So far, President Joe Biden has refused to cancel any student loans despite the overwhelming data showing their impact on 45 million voters to include the most vulnerable and the most diverse voters in the country today. He has refused despite the pressure that Senators Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders have mounted against the White House, and despite a myriad of organizations and think tanks that have appealed to Biden to cancel the loans. As far as many Americans are concerned, Biden not cancelling student debt is as bad as Senator Joe Manchin not voting for For the People Act.
One act burdens millions of Americans economically and the other burdens millions of Americans politically. Who are the most affected between the two groups? The black and brown people. What are the races of both Biden and Manchin? Caucasians.
Does the White House understand how this looks? Or is this another Crime-Bill-of-1994-moment on the part of the President?
It is time to tun the spigot of media pressure up by holding the President accountable. Because it seems that his loyalties to big banks is much more important than his compassion for the black and brown people in our nation
EASY TO CRITICIZE MANCHIN BUT WHY NOT BIDEN
It’s quite easy for Democrats and especially the progressives to criticize Senator Joe Manchin for his betrayal of his principles because he is beholden to someone for something. Maybe the Koch Brothers have something on him, which he fears its publicity. But why is it not easy for the same mainstream media like MSNBC, CBS, and CNN to criticize the President constantly for his lapse of judgement? When it comes to student loans, the liberal media is just MIA.
I especially hold MSNBC to task. The ultra liberal news organization website is full of stories about Joe Manchin, police brutality, and all the other progressive causes championed by the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but not when it comes to the cancellation of student loans. Even though the liberal media understands how burdensome these loans have become to those at the bottom of our economic ladder.
It is time to tun the spigot of media pressure up by holding the President accountable. Because it seems that his loyalties to big banks is much more important than his compassion for the black and brown people in our nation. Biden not cancelling student debt is as bad as Manchin not voting for S1.
Both men must understand the consequences of their actions down the road.
