Cleansing of Any Pro-Palestinian Narrative

Cleansing of Any Pro-Palestinian Narrative

As Israel is systematically cleansing the West Bank of its Palestinian residents and landowners, there is a new effort in the United States for the cleansing of any pro-Palestinian narrative. If you are critical of Israel, there is no high-reach podium or platform for you to use for that criticism. Behind that effort are U.S. corporations, which own the major media outlets, as well as some social media outlets like X (Twitter) whose owner, Elon Musk, just visited Israel. Jewish leaders in the United States, with oversized and immense powers, in addition to Joe Biden, want to put a lid on antisemitism, but not its cause due to the Israeli barbaric killing of civilians in Gaza.

Who would have thought that MSNBC, a progressive channel, would fold under that pressure, when it canceled the Mehdi Hasan show? MSNBC talks to all the young generation of progressive Democrats that polling shows now side more with the Palestinian Cause than Israel. To the tune of 52% for Palestine as opposed to 29% for Israel.

What better place to start blocking free speech and free association than what they watch?

Here is an opportunity for the rich gulf countries to invest in a new start-up platform that talks to the majority of people around the world.

OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA TO FOLLOW

Punditry expects other social media platforms to fold under the same pressure. Mainly, Facebook and Instagram that Meta owns, YouTube that Google owns, and Snapchat that Snap, Inc. owns. Outside the U.S. influence are Chinese-owned TikTok, which the U.S. government is trying to block in the U.S., and Telegram operating out of the UAE under Russian tutelage.

Already, Meta, on its vast network of over 5 billion users, has deleted over 90% of all pro-Palestinian posts since October 7. Yet, antisemitism is on the rise, which just shows the stubborn staying power of those opposing the war has been.

This push for cleansing of any pro-Palestinian narrative may push more Americans towards the social media platforms operating outside the United States. Almost 2 billion people globally use TikTok and Telegram. With some degree of truth, we say that cancelling the Mehdi Hasan show does not cancel the voices of those disturbed by Israeli violence against innocent civilians.

If platforms continue to cancel the voices of their members, they will find another city town hall, or village square, to express their opinions. Here is an opportunity for the rich gulf countries to invest in a new start-up platform that talks to the majority of people around the world. Especially those BRICS+ is trying to reach already.

Once again, the U.S. may shoot itself in the foot by empowering our enemies.
