For many of us who are witnessing the war in Ukraine in its granular details, we are learning two essential lessons: 1) Never Obamize again any Putin threats and, 2) The Russian military is a third-rate force unable to win wars when confronted with western know how and technology.
By “Obamize”, I mean do not go golfing after refusing to send weapons to Ukraine to defend against an illegal and violent invasion. Just as President Barack Obama did in 2014 when Putin attacked the Ukraine and annexed the Crimea. The whole world is paying today for his mistake. My criticism of President Obama does not extend to his domestic policy, especially not his brilliant passing of the Affordable Care Act.
On foreign policy, though, he was clueless about the danger of Vladimir Putin and Ayatollah Khamenei of Iran. He never understood the dangers our enemies represented against our interests.
Maybe it’s because the Russian troops are not getting enough Vodka today. Who knows!!
THE RUSSIAN MILITARY IS HOPELESSLY INCOMPETENT
There is one item of interest all military experts seem to agree upon. The Russian military might is not so mighty after all. It is hopelessly incompetent when facing western battlefield expertise and weapon superiority.
Furthermore, I am almost certain Stalin would have never been able to reach Berlin in World War II had not the allies sucked away German troops and resources away from the eastern fronts.
I am not a military expert to make this claim, but it just seems, watching the Ukraine war unfold, that it would have been impossible for such an army to win anything on the battlefields on its way to Germany if not for the brave allied soldiers diminishing German military capabilities on its western fronts.
Maybe it’s because the Russian troops are not getting enough Vodka today. Who knows!!
It is the Russian incompetence, which prompted Secretary Austin to make the surprising announcement that the west intent is to exact a resounding defeat on the Russian forces with the goal of forcing Putin to never wage another war again. This is how confident the U.S. military strategists have been with their battlefields assessments. This is how bad the Russian army has been waging its war on Ukraine.
It all changed after watching the ineptitude of the Russian army.
BIDEN STARTED AS OBAMA BUT FINISHED AS BUSH
President Biden earlier responses to the Ukraine invasion almost emulated those of Barack Obama. He was hesitant about delivering too many lethal weapons or support. His NSC staff resorted to lawyers as a counteroffensive to Putin’s war, which would have been a total disaster had it continued.
But as President Zelensky’s own bravery seeped into the skins of the EU leaders, Biden, somehow, found his footing and began helping Ukraine on a grand scale. So did the EU, which, initially, was clueless about how to steer the war on their borders to benefit the continent.
It all changed after watching the ineptitude of the Russian army. It certainly changed once the U.S. and the EU witnessed the bravery of the Ukrainian army in defending their homeland. During the Obama years, there were no Zelensky to inject the U.S. President with any courage to respond to Putin. Obama just took it upon himself to deny a democracy the means to fight back.
Biden may have started almost as Obama did, but he is finishing like a Bush during their war on Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan and freeing Kuwait from an Iraqi invasion. The President is making it clear that only a Russian military defeat is the U.S. ultimate goal.
All because of the failure of the Russian army to swallow Ukraine whole. The Russian military failures turned into our own roadmap for victory.
