The American World Order Under Attack

After Desert Storm, preceded by the collapse of the Soviet Union, former President George H. W. Bush declared a “New World Order” that would reign supreme with the United States leading the world. Those were times when Russia almost disintegrated, when China was beginning to develop its economy, and Saddam Hussein kept a watchful eye on a weak Iran. The dynamics have changed since the early 90s. All three now are uniting to break apart Bush’s vision of a strong America. Our American world order is under attack as all three nations are ganging up on the United States. The Ukraine-Russia and the Israel-Hamas wars are just a manifestation of that attack on American supremacy.

How the west is responding to the Ukrainian war against Russia, and how the United States is responding to Hamas, through our undeniable support for Israel, are defensive in nature. Russia directly and Iran indirectly are testing American resolve.

Has the U.S. reached a breaking point in terms of waging wars on three fronts?

WORLD ORDER WAS NEVER ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS

In selling the “New World Order” to the rest of the world, President Bush claimed it would spread freedom and protect human rights.

Until it did not. Today, the United States is compelled to protect its global hegemony. In essence, what we are witnessing in Gaza are crimes executed in the service of an order to protect human rights. So much for lip service.

Meanwhile, the third player, China, is watching carefully events unfolding in Ukraine and Gaza. The question the new economic giant must be asking is whether it believes the United States can defend Taiwan if China decides to attack. Has the U.S. reached a breaking point in terms of waging wars on three fronts? How would Congress respond as China witnesses fissures in the GOP ranks with regard to funding the Ukraine war?

WILL CHINA STRETCH US RESOURCES THIN?

It is almost a certainty that through diplomatic channels, the Department of State has conveyed an unwavering warning message to the Chinese leadership. Having said that, China must know that this opportunity may not come again.

It is also possible that China may be waiting for signs of U.S. exhaustion, just as Putin is predicting in his war on Ukraine. That after some 18 months of supporting Ukraine, and possibly many more months of backing Israel in its war on Gaza, its chance may come to occupy Taiwan. If it does, and the U.S. believes its resources are stretched thin, then the world would dramatically change. To the worst, we might add because the alternative is uglier than ugly. Just imagine the Mullahs of Iran rule the Middle East to get a future glimpse.

Today’s American world order is under attack. The United States will not hesitate to defend it vigorously, even though it might throw a wrecking ball at our economy. When Europe bailed out Greece in 2008, its debt to GDP ratio hovered around 180%. Ours today is 128%.

Yes, this is far from the trillions it would take, but this strategy to bankrupt the United States is a long game.

THE AMERICAN WORLD ORDER UNDER ATTACK

Fifteen more trillions of debt or so, and the United States might become insolvent. That’s what the likes of China, Russia, and Iran are betting on. The $14 Billions President Biden promised to Israel is just the tip of the iceberg. So far, the Ukraine war has cost the United States over $76 billions, with $60 more billions Congress must vote for in the next coming weeks.

Yes, this is far from the trillions it would take, but this strategy to bankrupt the United States is a long game. Between the Congress enriching billionaires who are skipping paying fair taxes, the GOP insistent on cutting programs for the low-income, which might create more internal strife, and more wars we must fund, we have positioned ourselves for the taking.

Our enemies know it, but Congress remains clueless.
