Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) entered the ring on May 22 in pursuit of the highest office in the land. While we believe Scott qualifies to become a President, the real motives behind the GOP support for his candidacy is a bit more manipulative than meets the eye. Tim Scott is a black vote earner in a political party whose leadership is mostly made up of white nationalists and supremacists, which means Scott has a near zero chance of succeeding as a competitor to Donald Trump for the Republican nomination. However, his very presence on the ballot has but one purpose: To suck away black votes for Trump or whomever the GOP nominates in 2024.
That’s all he is good for. He knows it, the top brass at the GOP knows it, the Democrats know it, and even Tim Scott’s barber knows it. So, let us not feign surprise or admiration for a role whose purpose is to suppress the black voters through malice and deviousness.
Tim Scott may be running for the President, but in reality he is running for the white nationalists in his party. Senator Tim Scott is Senator Tommy Tuberville’s little darling.
To call Tim Scott Uncle Tom is too demeaning a characterization. Instead, we would like to call him the Peter Pan of politics. Playing with demons and goblins while ignoring responsible behavior.
SORRY STATE OF OUR AFFAIRS
During Scott’s first interview with NBC news, after jumping into the race, Tom Llamas asked, “Would you ever try to overturn an election you lost?”. It is truly a sorry state of American politics when we have to ask if someone is willing to overturn an election. It goes to show you the damage that someone like Donald Trump has exacted on the Union, and the negative impacts the American people have endured during Trump’s tenure.
By no stretch of any imagination, we believe this will be a standard question interviewers will have to ask of all the presidential candidates in the future in order to assure the voters that our democracy is still alive. And if you voted for Trump, you caused this. You are the reason our democracy is weaker today, you ignorant nincompoop.
At Punditry, we would like someone to ask the same question to the two front-runners in Trump and DeSantis. Trump, most likely, would demur and deprecate. DeSantis on the other hand would most likely deny, but with a caveat. Such as saying “as long as the results are honest”, which he might reverse later by saying he does not believe they were. It’s the perfect fascist exit.
Not to swing aimlessly, Tim Scott, at the end of the day, is a gallant facade that the white nationalists love because it breaks the unity of the black voters some in the GOP are openly hostile to their liberties and civil rights.
