We Should Not Underestimate the Challenge to Curb Domestic Terrorism

In the beginning, you deny there is a problem, which this nation has been doing since Fuhrer Trump came to power. Then, when it dawned on us we have a serious problem at our hands, we became angry, which is the stage we find this nation to have reached in the aftermath of January 6. The anger is yet to subside, and it should not, until we find a sensible long-term solution to the multi-faceted problem of domestic terrorism this nation is facing. We should not underestimate the challenge to curb domestic terrorism in our midst, it will be THE biggest challenge in the 21st century of this nation.

In retrospect, the challenge of competing with China, or interrupting the cyber attacks coming from our enemies, both are going to be a breeze compared to the domestic terrorism problem we can no longer ignore.

There is little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But in their disdain for pluralism, in their disregard for human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit.

CAN WE WIN THE WAR ON DOMESTIC TERRORISM?

Where do we start when the challenge includes educating Americans about one simple fact many refuse to admit, which is that the Unionists won the civil war. There are millions of Americans who still believe that the North stole the Southern States’ way of life, which was centered around slavery. Those demented myths persist in the inner circles of the deep south to this day. Just count the number of trucks boasting the Confederate flag bumper stickers. They represent one of the most persistent reality check driving domestic terrorism.

Then we have offshoots to include resisting the U.S. Government central authority by calling it freedom, or the latest in the QAnon crazies spreading misinformation that make no sense. Add to this mix the Neo-Nazis and the White Nationalists one finds in the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys organizations, which are no different than al-Qaeda and we have a witch’s brew of Americans who are ready and able to terrorize this nation repeatedly.

Even former President George Bush described them as no different. In a speech marking the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the former President said:

How one can eradicate racism when there are over 150 Republican racists in Congress?

ONE GOOD PLACE TO START

It is imperative, to stop this new wave of domestic terrorism, to lock Donald Trump in prison for his coup against the U.S. Government. As long as the previous one is free to spread more lies, all effort to curb domestic terrorism will fail miserably. He is the leader of all domestic terrorists, and unless we lock him up to make an example out of him, we cannot move forward with any agenda item.

Without a doubt, Donald Trump has sparked the downfall of this nation. From greatness to divisiveness. From rationality to unhinged behavior by his followers. And from trust to mistrust.

As long as Trump remains in the equation of American politics, this nation is at risk of imploding. If we want to save our country, we must imprison Donald Trump for his treachery.

It’s step one to curb domestic terrorism.

The more unfit and racist white police officers kill innocent black people, the more we reinforce the White Supremacists’ message of hate, which drives domestic terrorism and keeps it alive.

TWO OTHER GOOD PLACES TO CONSIDER

Oh, and don’t forget how easy it is for Americans to buy weapons. No other nation on earth permits its citizens to acquire weapons with the ease and the quantities that America does. This is what happens when the Supreme Court misinterprets the Second Amendment as the Founders intended. We are our own worst enemy. We must address this issue, as a society, if we are to flourish as a country.

Can we really win the war on domestic terrorism with so many weapons circulating? Really, we should not underestimate the challenge to curb this new violent reality living amongst us. Ashli Babbitt was a U.S. Veteran for heaven’s sake.

Another good place to start is to eradicate all elements of systematic racism that litter our political and judicial systems. The more we turn a blind eye to racism, across all the tenets of our society, the more we extend a lifeline to the White Supremacists. We should eradicate racism from every facet of our society to include corporate America, sports, and the indefensibly racist police unions.

The more unfit and racist white police officers kill innocent black people, the more we reinforce the White Supremacists’ message of hate, which drives domestic terrorism and keeps it alive. Racism and domestic terrorism are two peas in a pot. One reinforces the other even though both are antagonistically rivals.

How one can eradicate racism when there are over 150 Republican racists in Congress? We should not underestimate how complex is this new problem we are facing today.
