It’s the record that speaks your position, and not the flowery, sweet-talking speeches that matter. Using this measuring litmus test, let us then examine the President’s position with regard to protecting the rights of the black people in this country. Let us show you why Joe Biden cares so little about the African American communities using his record as the admissible proof.
There is a big difference between talk and action. Especially when it comes to the President of the United States.
Who were the people most likely to suffer the consequences of these incarcerations? The African-American communities.
THE CRIME BILL OF 1994
As crimes increased in every category between the 1960 and the 1990, mostly due to systemic racism that broke black families apart, Senator Joe Biden authored the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act in 1994 even though violent crimes dropped from 10.4 per 100,000 in 1980 to 9.4 in the 1990. That bill tore into the African-American communities like a tornado tears into a hay barn.
The ACLU’s own website describes the impact of that law:
Who were the people most likely to suffer the consequences of these incarcerations? The African-American communities. You can just imagine what Republican legislators are doing today with regard to voting rights to fully grasp what they did yesterday to incarcerate more black people. It’s racism at its worst.
President Bill Clinton who signed the Crime Bill into law apologized for its impact. He told an audience of African-Americans “I signed a bill that made the problem worse, and I want to admit it.”
Even Joe Biden admitted, on his campaign trail in 2020, that his bill “exacerbated the issue”.
Behind it all stood Joe Biden. It’s action that speaks your mind, not your words.
Is that racism, or plain insensitivity when Biden ignores the plight of millions of black voters? We will let you be the judge of that.
BIDEN TODAY ON STUDENT LOANS
The African-American communities and communities of color are suffering disproportionately from the $1.8 Trillion student debt fiasco than their counterparts in the white communities.
According to key findings, 45% of black students regret borrowing for their college degrees, while 31% wish they had borrowed less. Mostly because society is not rewarding African-American students with good paying jobs.
Furthermore, according to the American Association of University Women, their gender holds 2/3 of America’s nearly $1.5 trillion student loan debt, with black women carrying the highest student loan debt of any ethnic group.
Yet, President Biden remains adamant about not forgiving any debt even though he promised on his campaign trail he would do so. One of the largest manager of student loans, Navient, has its HQ in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden’s home state.
Yesterday, the last question from a reporter during his two hours press conference was about forgiving student loans. The President just walked off without answering after a long tirade answering the second question.
Is that racism, or plain insensitivity when Biden ignores the plight of millions of black voters? We will let you be the judge of that.
Biden still has three years to sign an Executive Order forgiving the debt. Maybe, he is waiting for September 2022, a month prior to the mid-term elections to secure the highest number of voters.
We hope that is his intention.
Any other U.S. President, sensing failure, would not have wasted five months of negotiations with two unwilling Senators.
WHY JOE BIDEN CARES SO LITTLE ABOUT AFRICAN-AMERICANS?
Joe Biden entered the arena with those fighting for voting rights late in the game. At first, he ignored it. Then, he gave a speech and then ignored it again. Then, when he saw that it is impacting his polls, he began to championing the cause.
But without the necessary moves to actually pass the legislation such as twisting the arms of both Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema who stood in the way. It is unfortunate that Joe Biden was never able to transition into a powerful President. He still sees himself as a champion of bipartisanship as if he was still wearing his Senate cap. Just like Donald Trump never transitioned from his con act to a real President.
Any other U.S. President, sensing failure, would not have wasted five months of negotiations with two unwilling Senators. Any other powerful President would have unleashed the DNC on the rebellious Senators to whip them back in line. Not Joe Biden. Why? Is it because Joe Biden cares so little about the African-American communities or people of color? Again, we will let his history answer that question.
His reluctance to use his powers has led to yesterday’s big failure of two voting rights bills not garnering enough Senators to vote them into law.
