Does anyone out there believe that the apathy of Attorney-General Merrick Garland, after watching last night’s compelling evidentiary proceedings, is deserving of our unfettered scrutiny? Does anyone believe that Garland is capable of protecting our democracy on the basis of his absence? Furthermore, does anyone believe this indifference to confront the architects of January 6 is a driver for lethargy among voters in 2022? I am one to believe it. In fact, I would squarely blame Merrick Garland for any 2022 or 2024 election defeats as his inaction, 18 months after January 6, is leading many democrats simply to give up on the ineffectiveness of this administration.
Donald Trump, like a vulture, is circling them and the response, in spite of all the powers the U.S. Government affords them, has been pathetic at best. So far, at least.
But make no mistake about it, none of this will matter few years from now except one thing: Where was the DOJ when it mattered the most?
DOES GARLAND LIVE IN A BUBBLE?
Does Garland not realize that his lethargic inertia is translating into less or missing voters at the ballots in 2022? All the Republicans, especially Trump, are sharpening their teeth to sink in his flesh if Garland does not provide some red meat for the rest of the country to feast upon.
Some of us are angry that the culprits of January 6 remain free to plan and plot their next coup. While Waldo Garland remains aloof and hidden as if non-existent. It’s been 18 months since January 6 and if Garland does not act soon on the evidence provided by the hearings of the January 6 Committee, it’s going to be devastating for the Democrats come November 2022.
You can blame inflation or high gas prices. Or, you can blame this administration’s ineffectiveness in running the country. But make no mistake about it, none of this will matter few years from now except one thing: Where was the DOJ when it mattered the most? Why Merrick Garland rested on his laurels, or acted too late, to show that the country was safe? Does Garland live in a bubble? Does he not understand that his silence is silencing voters too?
After these hearings, if the DOJ does not begin to hold monthly press conferences to show its commitment to hold the January 6 renegades accountable, Democrats will lose in 2022, 2024, and beyond.
DO WE HAVE A DOJ?
In my honest opinion, Merrick Garland, even if he acted during his short tenure, might be considered one of the worst Attorney Generals in modern times. During this period of Republican divisiveness and culture wars, and during the myriad of dangers facing this country by Trump and his acolytes, the last most Americans want to experience is this non-temperamental DOJ basking in its own orbit of weightlessness and totally absent from the scene of the crime. As if no one committed any crimes.
No sun shining on its activities means voter apathy in 2022. Possibly in 2024 if Garland continues on moving slowly, or not moving at all. It’s impossible to believe that no one in this administration sees the connection. I bet you Mitch McConnell must be having orgasmic dreams reflecting on the absence of Waldo Garland. I bet you the GOP thinks it has intimidated Garland into submission like it has also capitulated Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema.
After these hearings, if the DOJ does not begin to hold monthly press conferences to show its commitment to hold the January 6 renegades accountable, Democrats will lose in 2022, 2024, and beyond. Americans disapprove of weak and cowardly leaders. Garland’s absence is making Joe Biden look as absent as well.
So, yes. Blame Merrick Garland for any 2022 election defeats. And if he refuses to show the American people that he is doing his job, President Biden better replace him quickly. During these hard times, we need Democratic McCarthyism wrecking havoc on the insurrectionists.
The past ones and the future ones still planning the demise of our democracy.
