In response to an explosive story ProPublica reporters Joshua Kaplan, Justin Elliott and Alex Mierjeski wrote about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas detailing the influence one particular billionaire has on his agenda, Thomas declared that the many luxurious trips to far and exotic locations like Indonesia were “personal hospitality” and have nothing to do with business. Clarence Thomas must think we are idiots if Harlan Crow, the billionaire who paid for his luxury trips, did it because he liked his hair. Billionaires spend and expect to be paid back, and we have yet to know how Thomas exactly paid him back.
Clarence Thomas must be the most corrupt Supreme Court Justice in the history of the United States. In the same company as the Tennessean Justice James Clark McReynolds.
Folks, when a conservative billionaire befriends a conservative Supreme Court Justice, both do not spend their times exchanging Bloody Mary recipes.
COULD THE SUPREME COURT BECOME MORE CORRUPT?
Clarence Thomas, whether he likes it or not, is now the face of the Supreme Court as he weakly defends himself from allegations of impropriety dealing with influencing the Court. For those on the Court with stellar reputations, one cannot help but think they are cringing with disgust over Thomas lack of good judgment.
Unlike the federal bench, which has its own Code of Conduct monitoring ethical behavior, the Supreme Court has none, something many in Congress and legal experts have been calling for. With this scandal, Thomas looseness with ethical conduct may yet drive the Supreme Court to issue strict new rules that would forbid billionaires from buying our Supreme Court judges.
What would it take for Congress to act? A recording of a call between Thomas and Crow, in which the latter asks Thomas to derail a case to be heard before SCOTUS? Folks, when a conservative billionaire befriends a conservative Supreme Court Justice, both do not spend their times exchanging Bloody Mary recipes.
While other Justices follow a code of high ethics, Thomas and his wife are playing hooky with the law and billionaires who strictly adhere to a Quid Pro Quo lifestyle.
TAINTED JUSTICES
Ariane de Vogue and Tierney Sneed wrote an article for CNN about the lower courts displeasure with the Supreme Court failing to bind its members by a code of conduct the lower judges have long considered essential to safeguard the reputation of their courts.
Both journalists wrote:
Why won’t they do it? Because the likes of Clarence Thomas wants to hobnob with billionaires without anyone questioning his motives, even if they were dishonorable.
This is not the first time, Thomas, along with his wife Virginia (Ginni), find themselves in hot water. After the 2020 elections, his wife sent emails to Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows and urged him to stand firm with the lies of his boss, which eventually led to January 6.
To say that Ginni Thomas is as corrupt as her husband cannot possibly open that Ginni’s bottle. While other Justices follow a code of high ethics, Thomas and his wife are playing hooky with the law and billionaires who strictly adhere to a Quid Pro Quo lifestyle.
