There was no rhyme and reason to CNN inviting Donald Trump to a town hall forum except pure greed. Someone at CNN had this bright idea that they may capture the viewers abandoning the Fox Network and turn to CNN if only CNN can invite their cult leader for a southern visit. Instead, Trump ate CNN and its lunch in front of millions of Americans as CNN dialed back two years of media accountability to reverse his lies and deceptions.
But hey, CNN struck gold for that hour of using its platforms to spread Trump’s lies. That should make their stockholders very happy, adding a couple of millions to their bottom line at the expense of our democracy. Maybe CNN stands for Corporate Nonsensical Network.
It’s a balancing act now between greed and our democracy, and we are not sure democracy might actually win.
ONE YEAR OF INTENSE COVERAGE, OR …
The liberal media has two choices coming up. Either, it ignores Donald Trump in the hope this hour of promoting his lies just goes dormant and voters erase it from their memories with time, or, it begins the cycle of calling him out for his lies in the hope that by 2024, enough common sense voters would see his danger for themselves.
The reality is that CNN may have flipped millions of independent voters for Trump in 2024. It now needs to figure out how to flip them back in the short period of 18 months. Good luck! Thanks to CNN, let us cross our fingers and hope for the best.
Who at CNN thought that Kaitlin Collins can control Donald Trump on a stage? Honestly, who? Or, was it always the plan to invite a majority Republican audience to capture the fleeing Fox Trumpists? Was this the intention all along, to corral those who agreed with the insurrection in the hope of changing their minds? Instead, Trump corralled the independents and possibly turned them into MAGA supporters and future terrorists. Hail to the captain of the CNN ship behind that decision.
So, now we wait. For leadership, inspiration, and a ton of luck, that May 11 is not a positive turning point for Donald Trump. It’s a balancing act now between greed and our democracy, and we are not sure democracy might actually win.
