No matter how much sense one attempts to find in the little political nuggets that Ron DeSantis keeps throwing our way, it’s difficult to fully understand how the Florida Governor thinks he can achieve the ultimate goal of reaching the White House with the kind of rhetoric and battles DeSantis keeps waging. Unless one thinks that DeSantis is obsessed with stealing the same Trump cult followers, his actions of late are nonsensical. We are talking about followers the former President has been able to sequester under one large, mainly racist and bigoted tent.

DeSantis’ obsession, it seems, with pulling a fast one on Trump, is segregating him away from centrism and into the scary realm of extreme politics most Americans reject in the voting booth.

Apparently, he is willing to do or say anything to entice the voters of Trump to switch sides regardless of how today’s policy or strategy position on anything from gun control, to anti-Latino immigration policies, to picking a fight with a corporate giant might help him nationally.

So far, it looks like DeSantis is a miniature Donald Trump who restrains himself from name-calling. That is it. It’s the same hatred, the same vindictiveness, and the same impulse for authoritarianism.

Unless his obsession with Trump is really the main driver behind all his pronounced policies so far, and the rest he will figure out as he goes along.

Of late, DeSantis has been peddling strange conspiracy theories, one of which claims the Federal Reserve is out to block Americans from buying guns and gas. Knowing the ignorance of a Trump loyalist, maybe DeSantis is looking for his own hooks to steer the imbeciles, who might believe him, into secured voters.

His cruelty against immigrants is becoming legendary. So much so that Evangelist Latinos are beginning to warn him against taking that road to nowhere. But then, maybe DeSantis knows something about how Americans poll on immigration the rest of us do not believe they are as controversial and dangerous as the alt-right might want to promote.

Go figure, how Ron DeSantis is going to win the presidency, if he wins the nomination first.

THE FINAL CONSTRUCT?

Is this really the final DeSantis construct? Or, will he attempt to move center-right to become more appealing to independents because many might not want another Trump figure-like in the White House? If and when he does, how will DeSantis escape today’s extremist views when he is debating Biden on a national stage if he wins the nomination? Americans have grown weary of Trump and the resulting Supreme Court rulings, some of which have impacted tens of millions of Americans they did not impact back in 2016.

DeSantis has positioned himself as a champion of these controversial and unpopular extreme views and policies. In Congress, DeSantis made no friends, and it looks like he is continuing with that pattern of behavior when it comes to the American voters who refute cultism.

We do not see DeSantis winning the nomination, nor the presidency, by following in the same footsteps as Donald Trump. Americans want to see stability when all they see today is gun violence (146th mass shooting so far this year) and a brutal assault on women’s rights.

DeSantis is contributing to that violence when he recently and quietly signed a bill for Floridians to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. He also passed a law to ban abortions after 15-weeks, one of the strictest bans in the country.

Two issues that do not poll well nationally.
