There was a good reason for Former Defense Minister Benny Gantz to announce that he would leave the government if Benjamin Netanyahu did not announce his plans for his war against Hamas by June 8. Israel military losses prompted Gantz threats to leave the government, mostly because of the stiff resistance it is now encountering from Hamas in North Gaza and Rafah.
The Israeli losses of men and materials are having an impact on the psyche of the Israeli military now stuck fighting a determined and a fast-changing resistance.
The video below showing Hamas destroying two Merkavah tanks with IED’s is just an example of their capabilities to fight on their own terms and in territories they know far better than Israel does.
Hamas is changing its tactics faster than Israel can learn and adjust
NO ORDINARY WAR
After the success Israel had with the carpet destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure to include schools, hospitals, food warehouses, and whole neighborhoods, the war has reached the combing and cleaning stage. Israel must now enter every building, every hole, every tunnel, and every structure to clean what remains of Hamas.
It is a difficult job that no army can achieve without considerable losses. This is where Hamas is strongest, as it fights like a true resistance movement. With precision and much success.
This is no ordinary war. Israel is learning the hard way what it means to enter Gaza to clean up the last pockets of the Hamas resistance. Hamas is changing its tactics faster than Israel can learn and adjust. Everything Israel learned tactically from its first phase of the Gaza invasion is now obsolete.
Here is another video showcasing the efficiency of Hamas in hunting down Israeli tanks and personnel.
Why did Benny Gantz threaten Benjamin Netanyahu to come up with a plan for Gaza? Because Hamas is exacting a heavy toll on the Israeli military, and because Israel is unable to adjust to their changing tactics.
Everything Israel learned tactically from its first phase of the Gaza invasion is now obsolete.
LOSE-LOSE SCENARIO
It’s really a lose-lose situation for Israel.
If It withdraws from Gaza before freeing all the hostages and capturing Yehya Sinwar, it means Israel has definitely lost the war, and if it remains, Israel will only sustain higher material destruction and higher death rates of its soldiers.
All that death and destruction produced nothing more than Israel losing on the military battlefields, and even a bigger loss in the eyes of the global public opinion about Israel and its colonialist, apartheid goals.
Today, the whole world hates Israel for its violence against defenseless women and children.
No one is going to forget the faces of the small children of Gaza blown to pieces with 2 tons U.S. made bombs.
