Why would any Senator bolt from one Bill to write his own only to walk away from it? Why would a senator keep seeking negotiations with his own Party, after boasting he is on board to pass higher taxes for the rich, only to also walk away from it the last minute? It is because, and the Democrats don’t see it yet, Senator Joe Manchin may be a pure blackmailer. He supported higher taxes for the rich to obtain contributions for his campaign, and once he did, or was promised future contributions, he walked away from his own legislative promises.
No one in Congress is willing to actually say the truth because it is too horrible to make that accusation against a fellow legislator.
But this is Senator Joe Manchin. Someone who is always looking after his own interests while his West Virginia state basks in abject poverty.
Who ever believed that he was going to negotiate a climate Bill is as naive as they come. The man has made millions from the coal industry, for crying out loud.
Only a clever investigative journalist is going to catch him in his act.
HE KEEPS DISAGREEING WITH HIMSELF
Steve Benen of MSNBC wrote an article in which he describes Manchin’s actions as such:
Bizarre indeed if you don’t see Manchin’s end game, which is to threaten every industry possible because he controls the deciding vote in the Senate on Bills contrary to their interests; only to change his mind once they promised to fill his campaign coffers, or future promises to fill them just to avoid today’s scrutiny.
This is who Joe Manchin may have always been. A pure blackmailer par excellence.
Only a clever investigative journalist is going to catch him in his act because although we lack the proof, it is highly probable, given what he has been doing the last two years of retreating the last minute after making promises, that Senator Joe Manchin may be a pure blackmailer.
