When you watch Donald Trump remain free after all the laws he has broken, to include a coup against the U.S. Government, it is not hard to observe that justice in America is blind when it comes to old white men believing they are superior to everyone else. Justice only holds accountable the helpless and the hapless. Those who have no means to fight back or those who live at the bottom of our economic system. The powerful white men escape the justice’s net comfortably.
Besides Trump, another case in point are all the Republicans who helped spread the lies to shed doubt about voting, which ultimately sheds doubt about democracy itself. Should we not have laws to protect the viability and integrity of our elections against harmful lies?
All of the old white men in the Republican Party remain free plotting their next insurrection, or enacting anti-democratic laws to suppress a certain class of voters from practicing their constitutional rights to vote.
When Trump said he could kill someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it, he knew what he was talking about. Now reverse the order and apply the same logic to a black man killing someone on Fifth avenue. Justice in America is blind to the trespasses of old white men.
Could it be because there is an unwritten rule the result of Watergate that says each U.S. President will abstain from holding his predecessor accountable for his crimes?
FROM ONE WHITE POWERFUL MAN TO ANOTHER
Why our Department of Justice is not pursuing Donald Trump with the same zeal it is pursuing his foot soldiers who attacked the U.S. Capitol? There is no rhyme or reason for the DOJ’s inaction. A.G. Merrick Garland knows that Trump is capable of carrying out another coup as long as no one holds him accountable for his crimes.
How many crimes this man has to break before our government acts to lock him up for good? 10, 20, 100? Just give us a number so at least we know there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
It is hard not to ask the question: Why is DOJ and the White House reluctant to prosecute Donald Trump? There is only one answer to this question.
Could it be because there is an unwritten rule, the result of Watergate, that says each U.S. President will abstain from holding his predecessor accountable for his crimes? Otherwise each President’s term would be consumed by the investigations and the indictments. Trump knew about this unwritten pact, which explains his boldness in launching an insurrection.
If that is the case, then our democracy is doomed. Each indecent U.S. President in the future would know that imitating or crossing that line Trump drew in the sand would simply go unpunished. And if you are one to think there are no such thing as an indecent U.S. President, you are clueless about how real politics play out among the powerful.
Each U.S. President has two personalities. The one they want you to know weaved in wool over our eyes, and the real ugly one that got them to where they are. Trump was the exception. He showed us one personality consistently.
They [the people] now see all the fault lines the old white supremacists tried to hide by cheating and lying their way into a make believe American story.
WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE TRUMP GANG
Dominion Voting Systems is doing more to hold Trumps’ allies accountable than our Department of Justice. While the FBI goes after the low-hanging fruits, Dominion has sued Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and Mike Lindell for mega bucks in a defamation suit many expect the company would win. That’s more than our DOJ has done so far.
Remember Mo Brooks? The nincompoop who stirred the domestic terrorists on January 6 to attack the Capitol? Why is he not being prosecuted? Or Josh Hawley who encouraged the same terrorists to attack with his clinched fist? What role did he play in the insurrection of 1/6?
Is this what makes America exceptional? The fact that one class of citizens — White Anglo-Saxon Protestants — are above the law? It must be because it is the WASPs who mostly believe this country is truly exceptional when in fact it needs lots of repairs and lots of roll-backs.
Unless we indict, prosecute, and imprison Donald Trump and his accomplices in inciting the domestic act of terror, the people of this nation will continue to revolt. Silently at first, but don’t bet the house on maintaining the status quo for long. The social media has awakened people from their slumber. They now see all the fault lines the old white supremacists tried to hide by cheating and lying their way into a make believe American story.
As I said before, it’s the Bastille or real, Koch-brothers-free reforms.
