Middle East Religious Dynamics Foster Arab Weakness

There are certain Middle East religious dynamics that are fostering and extending Israel’s power to divide and conquer the region most Americans know very little about. Between the Sunni religious political construct of the Hamas Muslim Brotherhood ideology, born in Egypt, and the Gulf countries Sunni religious social construct of Wahabbism lies a vast chasm. One that Israel is using to its advantage to advance its goals to remain supreme in its commanding height of the region.

Hamas has adopted a political model to spread Islam, while the Gulf countries had limited the influence of Wahabbism to only a social agenda to manage the lives of the people in the desert. The last the Arab dictators of the gulf want is a political Islam to place their rule under a microscope.

And while Hamas has maintained its political Islam the driving force behind its goals, the Gulf countries, after Mohammad bin Salman came to power, have abandoned the rigid Wahhabi social agenda. Today, they favor a loser social system that is closer to the West than Hamas could ever allow in its stronghold in Gaza.

Both the Gulf countries and Israel fear a politicized Islam, which is binding the two into an alliance of normalization.

THE DEEP DIVISIONS IN SUNNISM

What remained a constant, though, is the divide between both Muslim Sunni ideologies, which explains why Sunni Saudi Arabia and Jordan helped Israel defend against the Iranian drones and missiles aimed at helping Hamas. There is no love lost between Hamas and the Gulf countries (except for Qatar, which adopted the Muslim Brotherhood ideology to spite Saudi Arabia’s embrace of Wahabbism).

Divided Sunni nations can only foster weaknesses that Israel is taking advantage of.

Even if the Gulf street is siding with Gaza against Israel, the leadership fears the Muslim Brotherhood politicizing their masses, which might eventually bring about regime change. Just as the Muslim Brotherhood brought regime change to Egypt by deposing President Hosni Mubarak.

Both the Gulf countries and Israel fear a politicized Islam, which is binding the two into an alliance of normalization. For Israel, Saudi Arabia is not to be feared, but a more politicized Shia ideology in Iran poses an existential threat for Israel. The same way that Shia Islam poses an existential threat to Sunni Islam because of Iranian military prowess, which explains why the Gulf countries have yet to normalize relations with Iran beyond symbolic gestures.

Sunni Arabs need to back Iran, rather than the dishonest words and the fake friendship of colonialists.

AFTER IRAN COMES THE GULF

Because of religious ideological difference (Muslim Brotherhood vs. Wahabbism), the Gulf countries are blind to the idea that a fallen Iran might weaken the Muslims of the Middle East even more. One cannot underestimate the Gulf’s inability to see itself a victim of Israel once Iran can no longer pose a threat. Israel will not stop until it controls the region with the United States by its side.

Therefore, after Iran comes the Gulf countries. And for any Arab leader to believe that the United States will not turn its back on the Arab rich countries after accommodating their needs with regard to normalizations with Israel is a bigger fool than most. The US will not hesitate a minute to bomb Saudi Arabia if it suited its needs, and Israeli interests. The Sunni Arab countries playing to weaken Iran are playing with fire.

For the Gulf countries, trusting Israel and the United States is trumping trusting Iran. It is the “devil we know” syndrome that has manifested itself in the control of their foreign policy.

Today, the U.S. is treating Saudi Arabia like a princess. Just part of the plan to put its leaders to sleep.
