Just Imagine for a moment that because Russia is already under severe western economic sanctions, Vladimir Putin might conclude that invading Moldova or Finland is almost cost-free to his economy. He has already paid the price because of his Ukraine invasion, he might as well just invade more of Europe. This is why only total defeat of Russian forces will spare other countries, which might include Finland now seriously debating NATO membership. The world can never be safe again as long as Russian conventional forces remain capable of causing destruction and death to their neighboring countries.
Why Moldova? Because Deputy Commander of the Central Military District Rustam Minnekaev gave a speech on April 22 to the annual meeting of the Union of Defense Industries in which he pointed out the oppressive fate of Russian-speaking Moldovians suffering just as Vladimir Putin falsely claimed that Ukrainians in the Donbas region suffer from oppression under the governance of democratic Ukraine. In the speech, Russia has set its eyes on Moldova by citing Transnistria, the illegally Russian-occupied strip of territory in Moldova.
Unless we decisively defeat Putin’s Russian army in Ukraine, Putin will continue pursuing his quest to rebuild the Russian old empire. I am afraid that some of our NSC staff at the White House are too slow to realize the danger of Putin. Some, honestly, make decisions based on false assumptions. Such as “What U.S. action might provoke Putin.”, or “How do we do the least to force Ukraine to conclude a forced peace with Putin”.

IF UKRAINE, WHY NOT FINLAND?
One of the reasons why Vladimir Putin invaded the Ukraine is to stop the country from joining NATO. Besides the other lies this Russian beast concocted to kill and destroy.
Considering that Finland is suddenly more inclined to join NATO, how would Putin react prior to or just as it votes to join the Alliance? Would he not, also, prepare to battle the Finnish at one point if he can claim victory in Ukraine? Why should we assume that Putin has any peaceful intent towards Finland? Why should we assume “He won’t dare” while the facts demonstrate “He did dare on Ukraine”?
A survey by the Finnish Business and Policy Forum Eva think tank found that the majority of Finns today support joining NATO. Prior to the Ukraine invasion, only 21% of Finns supported membership in NATO.
In mid-March, Putin threatened both Finland, with whom Russia shares an 800-mile border, and Sweden should they contemplate to join NATO. And since in a democratic society, the voters choose their fate, a future clash is inevitable. One in which Putin’s armies might dare to invade Finland to stop this European nation from defending herself against his warmongering.
So, Mr. Jake Sullivan, no peace with Putin on Ukraine. Only total defeat of Russian forces would provide the ultimate guarantees that Europe is safe.
