Unfortunately, the Democratic Party is not up to the task of defeating the GOP even when the American people provide them the mandate of a majority to act. Why do the Democrats look so weak and so helpless? Is it because the GOP may have planted two Trojan Horses in the Senate in Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema ready to turn at the smell of money? Or is it because the Democrats are ill-equipped to use power the way it should be used? Maybe, the Democrats keep losing to Mitch McConnell because they don’t seem to understand they have to go down to his despicable level to win.
After the defeat of the For the People Act, don’t let anyone tell you America is a democracy. It’s another big lie concocted by the white supremacists while they suppress voters and filibuster bills. We are not a real democracy; not by a long shot if you compare us to any of the European countries.
In no other country in the world, 51 votes lose to 50 votes. Trump was right about one thing: Our democracy is rigged.
This is going to be a long summer for this President as he starts piling up his losses. I, personally, think he is too old for the job.
WHERE WAS JOE BIDEN?
Is Joe Biden still President? I am asking because he seemed to have gone MIA on the the For the People Act. There was no twisting of arms, no last minute White House meeting or invitations, no canvassing of the country to gain grassroots support, no train stops in Kentucky, West Virginia, or Arizona. Joe Biden has gone to sleep.
Our President seems to have given up on our democracy because he is pursuing a one-track strategy with no plan B of corralling Republican voters under the auspices of his $6 Trillion bills in support of COVID relief, Infrastructure, and family assistance.
But what happens if he fails to reach his goals? Mitch McConnell has killed his infrastructure proposal and Joe Manchin still dreams of bipartisanship to hide his true colors. The same will go down when the President presents the Republicans with his Family Act (S.463), which McConnell will certainly kill on arrival. What then, Mr. President? How are you going to persuade Republicans to vote for the democratic ticket if you can only pass one bill out of three? Made possible through the Budget Reconciliation of 2020?
Joe Biden has another shot this year through passing the Budget Reconciliation of 2021. It only requires 51 votes and the GOP cannot filibuster. But if neither Joe Manchin, nor Kyrsten Sinema are on-board, the likeliest of outcomes, then Joe Biden will look like an incompetent President. Especially because he is insisting on Bipartisanship with a Senate leader who could care less about anything but his pure interests.
This is going to be a long summer for this President as he starts piling up his losses. I, personally, think he is too old for the job.
As long as both Parties often select trashy candidates, we will always get a trashy outcome.
PASS THE LAWS TO VET OUR POLITICIANS
Had Congress pass the necessary laws to vet our politicians before running for office not only in terms of past scandals, but also in terms of loyalties to the Party, we would not be in a position to question the motives of Manchin and Sinema today.
No politician should run for office before they pass two tests. One deals with history and loyalties to the core principles of the Party, and the second one deals with a psychological profile to make sure they are fit to run for office. Call the psychological test The Marjorie Taylor Greene Profile Test.
How hard would it be to buy a politician from one party to vote for the other if the right amount of money is on the table? Yup, think Manchin and the Koch brothers. That loyalty test would disqualify the likes of Manchin and Sinema in the future; or at least would diminish the probability of politicians selling their souls to the highest bidder.
Our country is in deep trouble because the politicians we vote for are mediocre at best. Most of them are cowards who ran to abuse their powers, and many simply do not care about their voters well enough to defend them against the predatory practices of billionaires and corporate America.
As long as both Parties often select trashy candidates, we will always get a trashy outcome.
