The United States Should Be a Four-Party Electoral System

When you analyze the optics of our two legislative bodies, the United States should be a four-party electoral system, not two; or three if you consider the viability of the independents as a block of voters. On one hand, we have the traditionalist Democrats, be they conservative or moderates, and on the other, we have a new and very vibrant block in the Progressives within the party. The same is true across the isle. We have the traditionalist Republicans and then we have the Trumpists, also a new block that has taken command of many in the party.

Folding the two newly minted breakaways into the same two-party system is fogging the political landscape as both sides are fearlessly uncompromising on many issues. By creating a four-party system of government, Americans would be able to better define themselves and the policies they pursue, which would highlight the harm lobbyists exact on our political system of government.

Today, both parties welcome lobbyists and both parties receive funds from corporate America. Would you not want to join that political organization that does not answer to the interests of billionaires? Rather than fixate at the granular levels of one candidate at a time?

Imagine if one political party in America refuses all corporate donations how popular it might become.

HERE COME THE TRUMPISTS

Many Americans understand the spectrum separating the moderates from the conservatives in each party. Of late though, Donald Trump has introduced us to a third political spectrum, which pretty much defines itself as anti-immigration, anti-minorities, and white anti-establishment supremacists. Just as Adolph Hitler identified himself as a fervent nationalist with fascist ambitions.

For those, like myself, who have been observing the Trumpists, they adhere to an America that goes back to the Civil War. In fact, most of the Trump followers, as we witnessed during the insurrection, are confederate-flag hoisting racists who believe the Civil War continues. We have seen these voters manifest themselves at the state or local levels before — George Wallace elections — but Trump has rallied them across all fifty states by lying to them.

Today, they have raised the American racist experiment to the national level with the power to deliver up to 30 million votes to Trump or whomever replaces him as the new Fuhrer.

There is no denying this base, which probably never voted before.

The Progressives tend to think of the social democracies in Europe as setting the example to follow in this country.

HERE COME THE PROGRESSIVES

When Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised to pass the infrastructure bill by September 27, she underestimated the power of the new Progressive movement within her party. Even after they threatened to withhold their votes. At the end, sixty Democratic representatives refused to vote for the bill. Sixty Congressmen and Congresswomen is real power, my friends. Enough votes to sink any bill they don’t approve of.

The reason they did not vote is because they wanted to pair the infrastructure bill with the $3.5 Trillion social net bill to pass simultaneously. Both Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are refusing to back it because their corporate donors believe it may weaken their choke hold on the labor market. Money to help families may mean employees may exercise the option to demand higher pay. If you did not know it before, economic slavery — $7.25 an hour — is part and parcel of a lawless capitalist system.

The Progressives tend to think of the social democracies in Europe as setting the example to follow in this country. If Europeans can enjoy free higher education, free healthcare, and paid maternity leaves, why can’t we have the same in the United States and remain a vibrant capitalist system like Europe? Their message is gaining traction as families suffer from excessively high drug prices and very little social safety net to fall upon in times of need.

The Progressives have become a power to recognize in America, and maybe this is why old white Congressmen, with ties to corporate America, find it hard not to insult the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when they get their chance.

The Progressives have become powerful enough to have their own political party.

The United States is really a four-party electoral system. Let’s admit it.
