How clueless are West Virginians about what is good for them with an economy resting at the bottom ladder of all 50 states? Recently, we have been able to answer this question. A Trump supported, most likely racist, candidate beat Rep. David McKinely in West Virginia primaries for the simple reason that McKinley voted for the Infrastructure Bill and his opponent did not. The Bill would provide much needed re-building of West Virginia’s roads and bridges, but the voters punished McKinley for his vote. What does that tell us about this small impoverished state? It says West Virginians just chose racism over their own self interests.
Either that or the non McKinley voters in West Virginia are dumber than we all think. Chose the poison between racism and stupidity. Or possibly both, which is probably the right answer.
Any wonder Senator Joe Manchin plays with their lives and economic prosperity knowing he is going to win his seat back in West Virginia despite working against the interests of his own constituents? Manchin knows his people well. He knows that between their bigotry and ignorance, the Senator can seal his win every six years. On the dot just like a Swiss watch.
This is America, folks. Where stupid has remained so since slavery.
THIS IS AMERICA, FOLKS
Millions of Americans carefully select their representatives after educating themselves about their agenda and ideology first. Except in the red states where millions of voters never truly investigate the past records of their representatives. If they look like them, and if they feed into their fears and biases, then they are elected. How dumb are the Georgians who voted for Marjorie Taylor Greene into office? Or rather how racists are they to believe the long tale of her space Jewish lasers, yet win an election?
This is America, folks. Where stupid has remained so since slavery.
To fully understand this unreal motion in American politics. all you have to do is listen to Mitch McConnell when he is on a podium endorsing or criticizing a bill. The words the minority leader utters gives away the interaction between Republican politicians and their constituents. Often, his words contradict completely the purpose of his speech, but since he knows Kentuckians will never dig beyond his misleading statements, Republicans, in general, get away with murder.
In my opinion, half the country does not even understand what their Representatives stand for or whether they work for their own self-interests.
IGNORANCE PREVAILS
This is America, folks. The impact of the naivete of the red states voters magnify the corruption in Washington. Why would, for example, a senior red state voter in need for an expensive operation they ill-afford vote for a Republican who refutes Medicare for all? It makes no sense to shoot oneself in the foot. Yet, it happens every election.
One has to conclude then, it’s either ignorance — with a small dose of dumbness –, or it’s racism. I am not one to believe that Trumpists support the former President because he is anti-establishment. And if they are, this represents the incoherence of Confederacy, which circles back to racism.
In my opinion, half the country does not even understand what their Representatives stand for or whether they work for their own self-interests. This, in turn, lead us to political excesses and exploitation when constituents are blind to the machinations of old white supremacists leading the GOP.
