Donald Trump represents everything wrong with the entitled, above-the-law white nationalists who believe the United States of America is their country and the rest of us are all just visitors. And because of his egregious and crime-ridden behavior, before and after the presidency, Trump has the attention of the DOJ, and many other law enforcement officials in the States of New York and Georgia pursuing justice. Not only does he look finished, but Trump’s future, from where we stand, looks sordid and broken. Has Trump reached the end of his political career? Or, should we wait for him to lose again in 2024 before we come to this happy conclusion?
Yes, we know. Never dismiss Trump before he is six feet under. Even then, he is leaving behind millions of his horrible followers in places of power to continue his legacy of hatred and racism. This country needs at least one generation of committed political activists, with vast grassroots support, to recover from his ideological warfare.
People in this country are going to be angry for a long time. On both sides.
Trump’s tarnished reputation and legal troubles does not seem persuasive enough for the GOP to toss him to the side.
END OF HIS POLITICAL CAREER?
As every voter knows, Donald Trump’s political career has been one of the most talked-about and controversial in recent history. From his unexpected victory in the 2016 presidential election to his impeachment in 2019, Trump has been in the spotlight for better or worse for over nine year of our lives. But after his defeat in the 2020 election and the Capitol seditious insurrection on January 6th, many Americans are wondering if this is the end of Trump’s political career, or is this just the beginning of a potential comeback?
Following the insurrection at the Capitol building, many politicians, and voters alike are calling for Trump to be held accountable for his role in inciting violence, which is underway as he fights the department of Justice and many law enforcement officials. Even then, Trump cannot, constitutionally-speaking, be barred from ever holding federal office again.
Furthermore, Trump’s tarnished reputation and legal troubles does not seem persuasive enough for the GOP to toss him to the side. So whether Trump has reached the end of his political career is not a question anyone can answer now.
We should never underestimate Trump’s ability to capture the attention of millions of voters, and only time will tell what the next chapter of the Trump saga will bring.
IS THIS JUST A COMEBACK?
Despite the challenges he faces, Trump still has a significant base of supporters who are loyal to him. These supporters are rallying around him as he makes another run for the presidency again in 2024. If Trump is able to navigate his legal troubles, which seems implausible, he could make a comeback. No one should discount this eventuality, even though his injurious state points to the contrary.
Let us not forget that Trump has a proven ability to rally his base and generate attention, which means he could still use that power to force himself on the political conservative establishment. In fact, his influence has already negatively shaped the future of the Republican Party and the direction of American politics for years to come.
While the future of Donald Trump’s political career is at best uncertain, one thing is for sure: Trump is leaving an indelible mark on American politics. Whether he fades into obscurity or makes a triumphant comeback, we can’t help but hate him and for his supporters to love him.
We should never underestimate Trump’s ability to capture the attention of millions of voters, and only time will tell what the next chapter of the Trump saga will bring.
