It is said that fear from the unknown leads to bias and hate, which then, eventually, if steered properly, will lead humanity to death and destruction. But if hate produces the conditions for these apocalyptic sentiments, education leads directly to wars. By education, we mean state-sponsored indoctrination through propaganda, dehumanization of others, and a sense of entitlement, which turn supremacy into the engine of wars.
No better example of the above logic than the unjust Palestinian-Israel conflict, which has been raging for 76 years. One people claiming lands based on words in a book led to all the death and destruction we see before us today. It really did not start on October 7, or October 6, or any other date but November 29, 1947, when the British-led United Nations passed Resolution 181 to partition Palestine to accommodate Jewish nationalism in the form of the State of Israel.
The West forged the conflict, and the Bible served as the excuse.
The fact that Britain did not own the lands of Palestine to give away did not seem to bother the supremacists behind the Nakba. Britain, with all its shortsightedness, remains the source of all the problems in the Middle East today.
Any scientist interested in analyzing social and moral orders would raise a number of red flags against what Israel is doing to its people.
WE MUST DEAL WITH THE HATE ON BOTH SIDES
There is no amount of goodwill toward peace that could ever replace wars if we cannot address the hate that festers between two peoples. In any lasting society, peace starts from the bottom up, except in the despotism of the Middle East. In that world, the dictatorships decide against the will of their people, which is unworkable. Proof? Even though Egypt and Israel have struck a peace treaty in 1978, out of public pressure, Egypt joined South Africa in its case against Israel at the ICJ.
The Egyptians hate the Israelis for what they have done to Gaza, and so do the majority of Arabs and Muslims in the region. How can we forge any peace from that hellhole of mutual hate?
Hate is driving the agenda, just as Israeli hate for the Palestinians drove them to commit a genocide. But if hate produces the conditions, indoctrination through education produces the wars. And unless the world community tackles this issue from the bottom up, the next devastating war in the Middle East is just around the corner.
Videos of celebratory Jewish settlers dancing in a wedding after viewing a video of burning Palestinians shows the impact of a society indoctrinating its people to prepare them for wars. This level of dehumanization is not normal. Any scientist interested in analyzing social and moral orders would raise a number of red flags against what Israel is doing to its people. Its consequences are disastrous in the long run.
The same is true of Arabs and Muslims, even though the Palestinian Cause is just. How do we ever expect peace to reign in the bosom of such hate?
Every nation that supported Israel’s genocide is complicit in empowering extremism at the expense of humanity.
ISRAEL HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY UNDER NETANYAHU
If you follow the rise of Benjamin Netanyahu, you would know what kind of zealous and extremist Zionist he has been all his life. During his 15 years of his premiership, Netanyahu introduced hate in schools, in the settler colonies, and in the IDF ranks, whose soldiers, unashamedly, have been posting genocidal videos on social media.
Netanyahu knew he needed the Israeli people to see the Palestinians as sub-humans in order to inflict the maximum pain when the day came. Today, 90% of the Israeli society agree that the genocide in Gaza should continue. How could so many people wish for so much death and destruction on others is unimaginable. This is not a normal society, just as the Nazis were not.
So many argue that it was coming because of Hamas terror. We argue that the Israeli society, in general, turned a blind eye to its oppression of Palestinians. Zionism on steroids fostered the conditions for hate, which produced the Gaza War.
It is not one event, as the extremist Zionists in Israel want you to believe, but rather the general conditions Israel has established to oppress and submit the occupied people of Palestine that led to the Gaza War.
Having said that, it is too early to fix what we believe is the essential problem fostering all these wars. No one is really focused on the source cause. The United States is only focused on dividing the Arab countries into those it wants to bomb incessantly, and those it wants to peel away from Iranian influence through normalization with Israel.
Peace, meanwhile, has become the victim of extremists the world cannot find the will to erase from our history. Every nation that supported Israel’s genocide is complicit in empowering extremism at the expense of humanity.
