In July of 2020, the online magazine Salon compared President Donald Trump to the Secessionist Jefferson Davis. The writer, Chauncey Devega, was prescient enough to predict the Secessionist mindset of the President that led to the Insurrection of January 6, 2021. And to his credit, Trump proved him right. But if Trump is Jefferson Davis, one can definitely say that Mitch McConnell is Robert E. Lee.
Mitch McConnell is the warrior general on the Senate floor who refused to hold court in judgment of Trump when the House impeached him, and who, to this day, refuses to censure Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley for their actions that encouraged the Insurrection and unleashed the White Supremacists who descended on Washington to commit domestic terror.
Have the Unionists really won in 1865? Because from this author’s point of view, it looks like the Confederates never accepted the results of the civil war as they continue to wage it over the last 155 years. It culminated in raising their flag inside the Capitol on January 6.
As the country roils in turmoil, McConnell is hiding from public’s view. The warrior general is licking his wounds while he prepares to wage another battle against the Union.
WHY IS THE GOP COMPLICIT IN KILLING OUR DEMOCRACY?
Just as the White Supremacists invaded Washington with Trump’s help, the Secessionists overran President Lincoln’s party. The same Republican Party that freed the salves is today the very symbol of White Supremacy trying to dismantle our democracy. Insofar as it concerns the purists in the Party, it is fair to ask the question: Why is the GOP complicit in killing our democracy and its processes? Do they want slavery back, but this time around to include all the minorities in this country.
Why is Kevin McCarthy and his 140 cohort elected officials silent about the attack on The Capitol, the very symbol of democracy? Could it be to retain GOP power in order to disenfranchise the minorities in this country. Is this not a form of slavery?
It is a fair question to ask upon acknowledging how White Supremacists infiltrated the law enforcement and police departments in this country. The FBI warned us about their infiltration back in 2006. All those intentional and public police assassinations of black Americans is a form of organized and legalized lynchings, and anyone who refutes these facts is a closet White Supremacist parading as a patriotic American.
Does McConnell want slavery back? Is this why he does not feel the urgency of the moment pretty much expressed by his deafening silence? As the country roils in turmoil, McConnell is hiding from public’s view. The warrior general is licking his wounds while he prepares to wage another battle against the Union.
Congress must hold billionaires who fund far-right groups accountable for their actions. If we ask foreign countries to eradicate extremism, should we not start a similar process at home first?
WINNING ELECTIONS AND UPROOTING SUPREMACISTS
To uproot and eradicate White Supremacy, the Democratic Party has to win several Presidential elections in a row to install the right judges as well as pass the reforms necessary to yank this cancer within. The damage of Donald Trump over the last four years cannot be underestimated. He installed hundreds of judges some of whom are White Supremacists; it would take years to undo the impact of Trump’s damage.
Beyond judgeship, our business leaders must come together to de-oxygenate the root causes of White Supremacy in this country. If seeing these images of the Confederate flag parading on the sacred grounds of the Capitol is not convincing enough for them, then they are participatory actors in the demise of our democracy.
They can start by refusing to fund any political campaign for all 140 Representatives in the House and the 13 Senators whose actions led to the Insurrection. This strong signal will have long lasting echos beyond one or two election cycles.
Furthermore, Congress must hold billionaires who fund far-right groups, media outlets, and platforms propagating extremist views accountable for their actions. If we ask foreign countries to eradicate extremism in their midst, should we not start a similar process at home first?
As far as I am concerned, Trump supporters are America’s ISIL.
So while the FBI is arresting the low-hanging fruits who stormed the Capitol, the real enemies in Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Mo Brookes, and so many others remain a threat to the U.S. Constitution. These representatives are still waging their own-style of civil war, and this is why they cheered, empowered, and fully fell behind Donald Trump. He was, and remains, their best hope to remain supreme for the whiteness of their skin.
