Never Forget the Treason of the 147 Republicans

Americans are in a celebratory mood as they welcome their 46th President, and as much as they want the celebration to last, reality is that Trump left behind some challenging problems we need to address and overcome. Most on our minds should be the legislators who enabled his lies and went along with a coup against our system of government. Never forget the treason of the 147 Republicans in Congress who chose to burn our American democracy in favor of a racist President.

It is vitally important to throw those treasonous Representatives out of office, and it seems that there is a powerful corporate will to help with that process. A number of high-profile companies like American Express, 3M, Bank of America, Coca-Cola, and many others are halting all donations to the 147 Republicans who voted to question the elections.

This is the beginning of a much larger movement we hope it will eventually remove most, if not all, of the 147 Republican traitors.

This is America. There is nothing greater than to see self-made men and women beat the odds and succeed. But success is not a Carte Blanche to harm one’s country.

In addition to corporations, we must keep an eye on these 10 billionaires who funded Donald Trump. Kelcy Lee Warren, Isaac Perlmutter, Kenny Troutt, Robert Duggan, Steve Wynn, Phillip Gene Ruffin, Diane Hendricks, Sheldon Adelson (deceased), Daniel Andrew Beal, David Duffield, John Paulson, Robert Wood Johnson IV, Stephen Schwarzman, Ronald Steven Lauder.

Congress must pass protective laws that would forbid big money to play a role in the destruction of our democracy. Nothing like the threat of some jail time, or the possibility of losing their fortunes to help these airheads see the light of day.

Without these laws, the above lot will probably step in to fill the void left by corporate America. Why would they do that, you ask? Because they, like Trump, believe the laws are written for the little guy. One billionaire in jail is enough to send them all scurrying to abide by the laws like everyone else.

This is America. There is nothing greater than to see self-made men and women beat the odds and succeed. But success is not a Carte Blanche to harm one’s country. Therefore, it is imperative for Congress to add language to the HR-1 The People Act to punish any money that lends itself to harming the republic.

Short of waiting for their constituents to throw them out of office, I believe, Speaker Nancy Pelosi must invoke Amendment 14 of the U.S. Constitution against those who aided and abetted the Insurrectionists. Both the strength and the fragility of our democracy dictate action; and we hope Congress will take whatever action necessary to rid ourselves from the 147 Republican traitors.

Represent.us, an organization dedicated to eradicating corruption in politics, has a new campaign to hold the 147 Republicans accountable. In a mass email it sent its members, Represent.us asked them to contact those in their states who chose a coup instead of our democracy. You can see, and participate, in their denounce the politicians who voted to overturn the election“.

Much to be done still. Much work lays ahead.

By holding them accountable, Congress would be sending a strong message to all would-be civil servants who want to run for office. The message is clear. You swore an oath of office to protect and upheld the Constitution, and if you don’t, you are looking for severe consequences. To include jail time for those who believe they can get away with anything. As the entitled White Supremacists they believe they are.

The traitors must not serve. The traitors must feel the wrath of the people. Their Insurrection must bring the shame they deserve. If we let them get away with it, others would follow in their footsteps. You can bank on that.
