Take Police Unions Shift on Protecting Bad Officers With a Grain of Salt

The AFL-CIO is rewriting the rules on its policies of letting rotten apples rot every barrel in its system. In a move aimed at appeasing the public and at reigning-in a police force that is out of control, it called on its 250,000 strong police force to intervene when one of its members does something wrong and it pledged to no longer protect police officers unfit to protect and serve. In other words, the new rules attempt at ridding the unions of bad officers and at breaking the blue wall of silence. For one, I would take police unions shift on protecting bad officers with a grain of salt. The whole announcement by the AFL-CIO could be a PR stunt to regain public trust.

I am just a skeptic when it comes to guilty people suddenly claim they met Jesus at the 11th hour. What took the AFL-CIO so long?

According to the document setting the new policy, the intent is to “empower local union members to speak up and take action if fellow members are violating their professional oath or abusing their power, and ultimately helps the union weed out wrong-doers from union membership”.

Lisa Titus, who played a role in writing the new rules, said:

I am worried about the last words “It’s going to take some time”. Sure, anything that big takes some time but I am just suspicious of any changes to a racist system of policing black America. No one will convince me that we can erase 400 years of racist police behavior with some sweet words or intent.

Policing has turned into a system of organized and unaccountable legal lynching.

WHITE SUPREMACISTS HAVE INFILTRATED LAW ENFORCEMENT

For the last 40 years, white supremacists have been systematically and methodically infiltrating law enforcement agencies, especially at the local levels in Sheriff offices and small police departments. Add to this witch’s stew white supremacist police trainers who advocate for killing first then asking the questions later and you have a model of a system that is totally out of control. Exactly the way we see it today.

The logic of the white supremacist infiltration pivots around the notion that killing with a badge is easier and less prone to any form of punishment. This has turned the whole law enforcement system on its head as we watch police officers stalk black male drivers looking for a reason to lock them up, and if they are lucky, shoot them on the spot. Policing has turned into a system of organized and unaccountable Apartheid legal lynching.

Today, media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and NBC News have taken it upon themselves to publish any and all out of control police action on their online front pages. In order to keep the pressure on police departments, prosecutors, judges, and police unions to flush out white supremacy and its poison from the ranks and file of all police departments. The tactic is working as we see the AFL-CIO, totally culpable for letting police officers remain on the job after innocent citizens lodge dozens of complaints against them, re-calibrate its position. All because of the media and public pressure.

HEY AFL-CIO, SHOW YOUR TRUE COLORS BY SUPPORTING POLICE REFORM LEGISLATION

Let us be clear here. Barring the George Floyd’s video, the AFL-CIO would still remain silent on the violent trespasses of its police members. That, to me, is inexcusable. It reeks of systematic racism, which is why I would like to float another theory here.

The AFL-CIO takes aim internally at bad police officers in the hope of killing any police reform legislation. Mind you, the little the AFL-CIO is doing today dwarf any comprehensive legislation in the pipeline. However, the action may try and temper the will of so many on Capitol looking to reform the police. This is why I would take police unions shift on protecting bad officers with a grain of salt. The new rules defuse the pressure, which is the real goal.

Having said that, my hope is that the AFL-CIO is serious about flushing out the white supremacists. They are a serious threat to our democracy and economy.

Time has come to marginalize white supremacy to the point of extinction.
