The Most Regrettable Mistake of President Joe Biden

The most regrettable mistake of President Joe Biden with regard to Ukraine, other than refusing to arm the country with an air defense system months before Putin’s war, and other than refusing to permit the Ukraine to join NATO prior to Putin invading, is the fact that this President missed a golden opportunity to decimate the myth of the Russian army by, again, refusing to send jet planes to Ukraine. Jet planes, which could have destroyed the 40-mile Russian convoy now on the brink of entering Kiev. This act alone would have crushed the myth of the Russian military superiority and how effective its weapon systems were.

Russia is a third-world country, and Biden lacked the courage to demonstrate it to the rest of the world.

It would have, in fact, re-written the history of the world. Furthermore, in my opinion, it would have created the conditions for the Russian army to depose Putin and save Russia from his barbarism.

Unfortunately, our President has little ability to see the big picture. His foreign policy is a series of small but significant missteps that, when combined, demonstrate incompetence in ways that draws us closer to future wars than we can imagine.

Ukraine could have won the war decisively in the first week had it not been for Joe Biden doing too little, too late. This will go down as one of the most regrettable mistake of Joe Biden.

The US is trending towards sending more aid, more money, and more potent weapons as the war drags on.

WHY ZELENSKY KEEPS ASKING FOR THE MiG-29’s

Some US military expert are telling us that delivering the Polish MiG-29’s jet fighters to Ukraine, without air support like an air defense system, is useless. They don’t think they could be of much use to the Ukrainian Air Force.

So, the question is: Why Zelensky keeps asking the US to deliver them? He asked again during his address to Congress on March 16. Is it because Zelensky is trying to inject Joe Biden with the courage to act? Or, is it because Ukraine has developed a way to attack the Russian forces with little risk for retaliation? After all, Ukraine is still flying its own air force despite the Russian war machine.

It could also be because such a demand requires that the US provides, in parallel, an air defense system to sustain the viability of the MiG’s.

In diplomacy, one interlocutor always asks for more to get what they want or need. It seems President Zelensky is following the same logic. Ask for a no-fly-zone to get more lethal weapons than you expect the Americans to deliver.

It seems, for now, Zelensky’s plan is working. The US is trending towards sending more aid, more money, and more potent weapons as the war drags on. Mind you, the Russians are making it quite easy for the west to help as their forces show how incompetent they are on the battlefield.

The massive global support for the Ukraine is forcing our President to act with more courage lately than when the war began.

BIDEN HAD NO CHOICE

If matters were left to Joe Biden to construct a defensive posture to help the Ukrainians, I believe he would have failed miserably. Our President is not a war President. He wants to do the least possible because of his very affable nature. One that measures the iota and declares it an atomic bomb.

But the world is having none of it. The massive global support for the Ukraine is forcing our President to act with more courage lately than when the war began. His timidity has been put the test and failed; but then, he was unable to continue on that path seeing that 62% of Americans wanted him to do more to help the Ukraine on the battlefields.

Biden had no choice but to send more aid and more weapons. He set aside his reservations, most of which were unwarranted, such as US aid might start World War III, and began to push forward to help more the Ukrainian people defend against a brutal thug.

The more timid we are, the more we see what we missed in our rear view mirrors.

THE MOST REGRETTABLE MISTAKE

Biden only showed leadership when he was forced to. Had he acted much sooner on most of the Ukrainian aid requests, Putin’s army might be fleeing the country today. That’s the price humanity pays when appeasers rule.

Irrevocably, the fears to act earlier has cost us and the Ukraine much more than any historian could project. And it has levied a heavy toll on the Ukrainians because of the systemic destruction of their country before their eyes. What lessons will the White House, the Department of State, and the Pentagon draw from this? It depends on those who lead these departments.

The more timid we are, the more we see what we missed in our rear view mirrors. Our inability to destroy that 40-mile convoy when we had the chance will go down in history as one of the biggest military blunders.

It’s clinical. It’s teachable. But our President has yet to learn it.
