By any standards, be it European or Asian, the United States of America is a very young country. Not even 250 years old (that will happen in 2026). But such a young country to have also become the most powerful in so little time is a testimony to the wisdom of our founding fathers who were prescient enough to fix all the trappings of a new nation having observed Europe and its stagnation. Having said that, Trump and Santos show us the true folly of our youth today because our laws lag behind the global power we have achieved.

We are a young yet powerful nation, which is a way to say we are a teenager as compared with other civilizations. And like all teenagers, we are making teenage mistakes demonstrating our lack of wisdom. Voting for the con man Trump followed by Santos, six years later, shows us we are not learning from our mistakes yet.

How is it possible to have so many laws and none exist to protect us by banning George Santos from Congress today?

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

Never in the history of homo sapiens specie, now wedged between 300,000 years and a number waiting to be discovered with another skeleton buried somewhere, had a nation risen to such a powerful status in such a short period of time while exhibiting such youthful idiocy. Yet, we are a nation of laws. The most among all other civilized nations. How is that possible that we have so many laws, yet we have con men like Donald Trump and George Santos ascend to power so easily?

This is a question we all must ask. There is nothing wrong with being a young country, but considering the power we have gained over our youthful existence, our laws and institutions lag far behind. It’s almost like we are a 10-year old superman who cannot distinguish right from wrong yet. This is how the world sees us. This is who we are, really.

It is true that the few years people like Trump and Santos are going to exist in our lives will be minimal and inconsequential if we measure our history in thousands of years as some other cultures do, the fact these people exist today and have such impact on our lives demonstrate amply the absurdity of our laws if they are not protecting us from their kind. How is it possible to have so many laws and none exist to protect us by banning George Santos from Congress today?

Is it the will of corrupt politicians or the immaturity of our system of justice incapable of protecting voters from fraud? The combination of both demonstrates we are as irresponsible as a teenager unable to control their childish urges.

Like we said, we are a young but foolish country. We flex our muscles instead of cleaning our room. While playing with toys instead of structuring our lives to meet our future responsibilities.

SO MANY FUTILE LAWS

As an example, we have laws that prohibit people from hanging objects in their rear view mirror, but no laws to ban the con man George Santos from serving in Congress. How is that possible? Is it our youth or is it our culture just heading in the wrong direction?

There is a myriad of examples to cite when it comes to our legal system that do not help us grow up. In as much, there are ample reasons to believe that some very important laws are missing because Congress has yet to mature. It is representative of our youthful folly. Gloriously powerful, yet inane in our ability to show poise and wisdom.

The answer to our Santos problem lies in what our priorities as a nation have been. It’s a story of how to deal with criminality in a mixed race society. Like we said, we are a young but foolish country.

We flex our muscles instead of cleaning our room. While playing with toys instead of structuring our lives to meet our future responsibilities.
