While Trump shuts down the government by instigating the few MAGA extremist lawmakers in Congress, the Democrats may simply let it happen by not assisting Kevin McCarthy with their votes. If the MAGA crazies believe this is the best course of action to temporarily defund the institutions behind the indictments of their leader, why should anyone try to persuade them otherwise. Let them all bury themselves 10-feet under.
Although the media has captured Trump in his adoring selfless moment throwing the U.S. government in total chaos, many of us are simply flabbergasted by this man’s selfish behavior.
It’s the whole government on one part of the scale and Donald Trump on the other. To say that he is a deranged man does not even come close to describing this oddity of a human being. Who the hell does he think he is? He definitely needs to go to jail now to eat some humble pie for once in his life.
This is exactly what Trump wrote on his social media account:
Good luck winning again in 2024, you nincompoop.
Blocking funding of the U.S. government does not block the implementation of our laws.
WHAT A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN MEANS
For those among us who need to understand what might happen when the government shuts down, we ask you to read this CNN article describing the results. Incidentally, the longest shutdown in U.S. history happened under the Trump administration in 2019. And even though he lost in 2020, he seems to have forgotten that the shut-down that happened on his watch may have contributed to his loss.
Come to think of it, if Congress shuts down for not paying the staffers and the support personnel, at least it will be safe from his calls for violence.
In the meantime, two judicious Representatives in Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa) are proposing a new bill to stop paying Congress if the government shuts down. They feel, and rightly so, that if someone votes for a shutdown, they should also bear the brunt of their decisions. We could not agree more with that logic.
While Trump shuts down the government, let us never forget how destructive of a human being he could be. He is not instigating the shutdown for fiscal reasons, rather he just wants to save his own skin, which, according to many constitutional experts, like Jamie Raskin of MD, are assuring us it won’t work. Blocking funding of the U.S. government does not block the implementation of our laws.
So, why, do you ask, Trump is doing it then? Because he is a vindictive, contemptible man trying to show Americans that he controls Congress and our paychecks.
